Gas Station Re-Opens
Walkersville gained (or re-gained) a second gas station last week. Now re-branded with Liberty logos, the gas station at Sandstone Drive and MD 194 opened with new pumbs, new tanks, televisions at the pump, and a new convenience store.
Ahmed Hudhud purchased the fuel station that had been opened and closed many times under different names last year. The station had been abandoned and the State of Maryland denied fuel deliveries to the station for failures to meet environmental standards.
Earlier this year, Mr. Hudhud presented his plans for the station and reported that the station passed all environmental tests. Due to the age of the tanks, he replaced the tanks and installed all new pumps.
After the tanks and pumps were installed and inspected, painters spruced up the building and the store was renovated. Mr. Hudhud plans to expand the convenience store into what was a garage for auto repairs. He also hopes to open a car wash on the property.
The renovations and the re-opening have met with much praise from elected officials and town residents.
