WHS Lions Pride Original Story:
by Sam Newman
On October 9th, The Lady Lions field hockey team played the Tuscarora Titans for the senior night game. The final score was Walkersville-2 Tuscarora-4.
The Titans started off the game strong; they were able to score two unanswered goals in the first fifteen minutes of the game. Sophomore Caitlyn Humbertson was able to score with 9:20 left in the first half.
Walkersville seemed revitalized from this goal and their defensive intensity seemed to increase. The half ended and it seemed that Walkersville had all the momentum with them going into the half.
Tuscarora was able to regain the momentum when they were able to score within the first six minutes making it 1-3. Sophomore, Kelcie Roberson scored two minutes later to make it a one goal game. Tuscarora scored minutes later to extend their lead to two goals.
For the rest of the half the Lions defense improved which help create opportunities on offense which they couldn’t capitalize on.
The Lady Lions’ senior night wasn’t ruined by the loss but they would have liked to win. The Lions will look to improve their record to 4-6 ; they will play the Middletown Knights at Middletown this Tuesday.
