County to Upgrade Notification System
On May 6, 2015, Frederick County will be upgrading the Alert Frederick County notification system. The county launched the Alert Frederick County system in 2010 and this upgrade will bring increased functionality to the Alert Frederick County system.
The Alert Frederick County notification system allows government officials to send emergency messages directly to residents via telephone, e-mail, text message and more. In addition to emergency alerts, residents can chose to receive optional community updates by text message or e-mail including: severe weather, City of Frederick, Town of Emmitsburg, Town of Thurmont, Thurmont Police Department, Town of Walkersville, Town of Woodsboro, Town of Mt. Airy, Town of Middletown, Town of Myersville, TransIT alerts, and government notices.
Residents are encouraged to register for alerts at: www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/alert. After May 6th, current Alert Frederick County customers should go to the website and follow the instructions for existing users to login and verify their information.
