This month, our local Safeway is showing their LION PRIDE by promoting an in-store fundraising campaign to support Walkersville High School. Community Foundation Presents Barnhart Scholarships

The first scholarships from The Gene, Evelyn, and Ernest Family Scholarship Fund have been presented to six students. The fund is one of more than 679 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. The Gene, Evelyn, and Ernest Family Scholarship Fund was created through W. Eugene “Gene” Barnhart’s estate to provide scholarships to students pursuing agriculture-related careers. BoE and Teachers Sign Contract for Next Three Fiscal Years

Board of Education and Frederick County Teachers Association (FCTA) leaders signed a contract at yesterday evening’s Board meeting that takes effect July 1, 2017. The contract, which is a three-year agreement, implements the second of a four-year transition to a revised salary scale agreed upon last year, maintains insurance premium levels, and includes other updates and improvements for teachers.
