Mike is the publisher and editor of GladeValley.net. After growing up on a farm in Frederick County, Mike moved to Walkersville with his wife to start their family. Since moving to Walkersville, Mike and Emily's three children were born and attend local public schools. Mike also owns Digital Age Solution, an I.T. firm offering Managed Services, Computer Repairs & Sales, Voice Over IP Telephone Service, Networking, and Software Engineering. Mike actively participates in the community in various roles including: Walkersville Planning & Zoning Commission Member, Kaleidoscope 4-H Club Leader, Friends of Walkervsille Library, Vice-President, Frederick County 4-H Camp & Activities Center, Inc. Family Life Curriculum

Walkersville Middle School’s Family Life materials will be on display from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Media Center. Health teachers will be available to answer questions. Parents may preview Family Life materials for this school year at Walkersville Middle School on Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, September 10, 2015. Parents with questions may use the provided contact sheet to leave information and a Health teacher will be in contact. County and Towns Discuss Tax Equity

County Executive Jan Gardner recently met with members of the Frederick County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League to discuss the current tax equity program under which Frederick County Government reimburses the municipalities for some of the property tax revenue collected for roads, parks and recreation, planning and zoning, law enforcement and other services. As part of her implementation of the Transition Team recommendations, County Executive Jan Gardner announced the following promotions and organizational transitions: Workforce Services has been moved organizationally from the Citizens Services Division to come under the Office of Economic Development within the Office of the County Executive. “I’ve made economic development and job creation among my top priorities, and this change will bring together these complimentary services,” Executive Gardner said. Lamp Post Ripped Down

Not long after the Coca-Cola machine at Walkersville Pharmacy was toppled by vandals, one of Colony Village’s decorative lamp posts along South Glade Road met a similar fate. There was no indication as to the cause of the damage, but the lamp post has been “coned-off” for safety. The lamp post is not far from the damaged soda machine. It is also very close to a busy intersection for pedestrians, children on bicycles and scooters, and a large bus stop for Glade Elementary School students.
