Woodsboro Man Killed at Cactus Flats Parking Lot
On Friday evening, November 2, 2018, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched, at approximately 10:41pm, to the Cactus Flats Bar & Grill on Hansonville Road in Frederick for an assault in progress in the parking lot area. Upon arrival Sheriff’s Deputies found an adult male with serious injuries. Bystanders, deputies and EMS staff performed life savings efforts, but the adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Rutters Forced to Remove Signs
The Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission brought representatives from Rutter’s before their public hearing last week. Staff and Commission members noticed the installation of signs that had not been approved as part of its signage application. The signs on the diesel fueling area canopy directed trucks to enter and exit with large lettering and featured a very large DIESEL sign on either side of the canopy. What is “Question D” on the Ballot
One item on the Ballot in Frederick County this year seems to be getting a lot of attention. The item, known as Question D, is a proposal by the Career Firefighters Association of Frederick County to amend Frederick County’s Charter, the document that lays out how Frederick County’s Government will be formed and how it work, much like a constitution for a state or our country. Walkersville Opposes Solar Farm
Last week, Walkersville’s Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed an application for a 140 acre solar farm on a 151-acre farm at 8300 Biggs Ford Road. The property lies just outside of Walkersville’s Town Limits, but within its “Area of Planning Influence” and its annexation limits. Under Frederick County Zoning Rules, solar installations are only permitted within a Solar Floating Zone. As a result, the applicants requested a Floating Zone application to the farm owned by former Walkersville Burgess, Ralph Whitmore. This is not the first application for the same project.…
