Walkersville Honors Veterans
The Town of Walkersville honored the men and women who have served our country through military service during its annual Veterans Day Service on Sunday, November 8, 2015. The service, held at Walkersville’s Memorial Park, featured two World War II Veterans as speakers. Marvin Elfman served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. Elwood Hummer served in the United States Navy in 1944.
The service included assistance in honoring our veterans from:
- The Yellow Springs Band,
- Boy Scout Troop 1070,
- Melissa Joseph representing Congressman Chris Van Hollen of the 8th Congressional District,
- United States Veterans Motorcycle Club,
- American Legion Post 282 Honor Guard, and
- Taps by Milliard Haines.
All Veterans in attendance received an award from the Town of Walkersville Burgess and Commisioners.
