Accident Detours Carnival Traffic

At 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night, a vehicle accident at MD 194 and Stuaffer Road closed MD 194 and required Maryland State Police to transport one patient by air to Maryland Shock Trauma. Walkersville Volunteer Rescue and Fire Companies were dispatched for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Traffic from the Walkersville Carnival attempting to go south on MD 194 was diverted through Old Town Walkersville to Biggs Ford Road.

Chief 24 arrived on the scene with two vehicles involved in a T-bone collision. Patients were still in their vehicles After further investigation, Chief 24 advised Frederick Emergency Communications Center to dispatch second and third Basic Life Support units. Chief 24 advised Rescue Squad 24 that they were going to have to remove the doors on the silver vehicle.

Ambulance 247 arrived on the scene and began patient care on the patient in a silver vehicle. Rescue Squad 24 arrived on the scene and began to extricate the patient out of the vehicle.

Engine 111 arrived on the scene and began to control leaking fluids, and began patient care to patients in the other vehicle.

Medic 2 arrived on the scene and assisted Ambulance 247 with patient care. Ambulance 248 and Ambulance 249 arrived on the scene and began patient care on two patients in the second vehicle.

Chief 24 advised Frederick Emergency Communications Center that he needed a second Advanced Life Support unit for chest pains, and Trooper 3 for mechanism of injury.

One patient was flown to Shock Trauma and another patient was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital. At 11:15 p.m., command was terminated and units went in service as ready.
