Walkersville Alumni Heading to NJCAA World Series

Frederick Community College’s Baseball Team will be heading to Enid, Oklahoma this week. The Cougars will play in the NJCAA College World Series.

The roster includes Devin Bell and Vince Lodati, graduates of Walkersville High School. Ryan Kassab, another Walkersville High School alum, serves as the Cougar’s pitching coach.

The Frederick Community College baseball team has ranked as high as second in the NJCAA Division II poll. They are currently not in the top twenty, but still receiving votes. The Cougars (49-7) have been on a tear winning the North East District Championshiop Game against Lackawanna College.

FCC’s Devin Bell is on fire accounting for 18 long balls and is hitting .392. He has 67 RBI’s to his credit. With 19 home runs and a on base percentage of .484, this sophmore has proven a valuable assett to the team.

Freshman Vincent Lodati, Left Handed Pitcher, has an ERA of 2.05. Of his six games of play, five of those games were wins, and two wins to his record.

The Cougars are in the position they are in right now as they are getting contributions from each member on the team offensively, defensively, and on the mound.

FCC Skipper Rodney Bennett has tallied 476 victories in thirteen seasons at the helm. The Cougars have registered back-to-back 40 plus win seasons as they prepare for post-season play.

The Cougar’s first game is scheduled for May 23, 2015 at 12 noon. They will play Lincoln Land Community College at the David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma.
