2017 Glade Valley Community Show

The Glade Valley Community Show gets underway this week.

The Glade Valley Community Show provides the opportunity for all residents of the Walkersville High School district to display their best home grown produce and finest selection of handiwork.  It is sure to be entertaining, enjoyable and rewarding.  Visitors are most welcome to visit our show at any time except during the judging.

The residents may enter their exhibits for judging on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., and Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Entries are to be in the gym at Walkersville High School no later than 10:30 a.m. for judging to commence. There will be no exceptions.

Exhibitors are to bring completed entry forms to the show. A full catalog and rules may be found here.

2017 COMMUNITY SHOW RULES

  • EXHIBITORS: Any adult or youth in the Walkersville High School feeder school area can make entries, as well as members of the Glade Valley Grange, Walkersville FFA Alumni and Walkersville area 4-H Clubs.
  • ALL EXHIBITS must be home grown and/or home processed——any entries believed to be bought shall be eliminated from consideration for prize money
  • JUNIOR DEPARTMENT entries must be made by the entrant named.
  • NO EXHIBIT that has won in former years will be eligible for prize money. Entries must have been made since the previous year’s Community Show. (Collective hobbies excluded)
  • JUDGES reserve the right to place an entry on the merit of the product. The placing of the judges will be accepted as final
  • THE GLADE VALLEY COMMUNITY SHOW committee is not responsible for fire, theft or accident.
  • ALL CAKES, PIES & BAKED GOODS will become the property of the Community Show Committee and may, at the judges discretion, be auctioned off on Friday evening in the school cafeteria.
  • ENTRY REMOVAL will begin at 8:30 pm or immediately following the auction of baked goods (whichever comes first). Removal of entries prior to this will result in forfeit of prize money. All entries must be removed by 10:30 pm.
  • THE SHOW COMMITTEE reserves the right to pass on any decision not covered by these rules.
  • ONE ENTRY PER PERSON PER CLASS!

Exhibits will be open to the public Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until entries are removed.

On Thursday, the Community Show will have its Kids Night with activities for children.

On Friday, a Pork BBQ and Fried Chicken Dinner will be provided from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Dinner will cost $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 6 – 10 years old, and free for children 5 years old and younger.

Also on Friday, Lead Maryland will recognize Frederick County graduates of the program. Walkersville FFA will name their FFA Ambassador for the school year. A Cake and Baked Goods Auction will be held.

Admission to the Glade Valley Community Show is free.
