Without Warning Wintry Mess Wreaking Havoc
Despite forecasts of rain and wind, the Glade Valley area is being covered with a slicker and whiter precipitation.
Snow and sleet are causing accidents around the area including a collision at U.S. 15 and Old Frederick Road around 3:15 p.m.
The Maryland State Police declared a snow emergency with input from Maryland State Highway Administration at 3:00 p.m. As a result, the law requires certain precautions, including:
- Prohibited parking on roads and streets designated as snow emergency routes; and
- The use of snow tires/chains (most cars now use all weather tires, so changing to “snow” tires is unnecessary);
Frederick County Public Schools have cancelled all afternoon and evening activities, even though schools were already closed today.
Be careful out on the roads!
