The Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission will hold its monthly Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The Planning Commission will continue its work on updating the Town of Walkersville’s Comprehensive Plan.
Over the past few months, the Planning Commission has discussed the zonings of properties in Old Town and the concept of an Old Town Mixed Use overlay rather than zoning individual properties as Old Town Mixed Use, Residential, Business, etc.
The Commission have also discussed several applications and letters of interest from property owners wanting to be annexed into the town and/or re-zoned for residential development. Those properties have included:
- Square Acres Farm at the corner of Woodsboro Pike and Fountain Rock Road,
- Staley Farm between Main Street, Glade Road, and Devilbiss Bridge Road,
- Bowers Farm along Biggs Ford Road and Fountain Rock Road, and
- Delaplaine Farm (formerly Glade Valley Horse Farm).
No decisions on any rezoning or annexation has taken place.
Tuesday’s meeting will include a workshop discussion of “Undeveloped Properties”, a property owner request for the six-acre DeCaro property along Woodsboro Pike to be rezoned for High Density Residential, and preliminary decisions to guide staff in development of draft land use scenarios and map.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall on July 27, 2021. The meeting is open to the public and will be live streamed via Facebook Live on the Town’s Facebook page, Walkersville: Our Town.
