Updated Walkersville Response to COVID-19

A Message from the Burgess

After a recent County municipal wide conference call I learned this

The majority of Frederick County cases are not sure where or how they became infected. This means that Frederick County has “sustained community spread.” Everyone is at risk for COVID-19, and everyone needs to stay at home and take precautions. Frederick County Health Department https://health.frederickcountymd.gov/

Therefore the Town hall will be closed to the public.

This is not meant to instill fear but to stress the importance of following CDC guidelines https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html.

Please be aware of this mental health resource: Call 211 Maryland or  866-411-6803 to reach the local 211 center in Frederick, MD for questions about COVID-19 and to find mental health and health resources

Please be safe and stay home as much as possible.

We would also like to take a moment to give our citizens the latest “scoop” from our Commissioners from the Town Meeting on March 25th.

At this time, the parks are closed to the citizens for most activities. The playground equipment and pavilions are roped off, parking is prohibited, and use of restrooms at the park is no longer permitted. To address the concern of walking – yes. That is permitted at this time. We ask that citizens please park at Glade Elementary when using Heritage.

The only meeting that will be happening in April will be the Town Meeting on the 22nd and that will be live streamed from Facebook. Town Hall will be closed to the general Public. Please stand by for when to tune into Facebook.

We thank you kindly during these trying times and ask that you stay safe and healthy! Help flatten the curve.
