The Town of Walkersville launched “The Walkersville Wire” this week. The service allows anyone to register an e-mail and/or cell phone to receive alerts and information from the Town of Walkersville. It functions similar to the Frederick County Public School’s Find Out First.
“In our first day we had 51 people sign up and already have 4 today,” according to the first announcement broadcast from the service on its first day.
“We are very excited about this platform for sharing information with our citizens in ways we have not done so before. Please be patient with us as we learn the system and customize it for our uses,” the announcement continued.
You can sign up for the service at https://wvmd.ezcommunicator.net/edu/wvmd/register.aspx?app=0 . Once registered, users may select news groups to which they want to subscribe.
The platform Auto Translates messages sent out to users. The Town of Walkersville set up some common languages for the area, but invites users to suggest other languages to accommodate all users in town.
