The Town of Walkersville turned out big for this year’s Parade. Crowds lined the streets to enjoy the sites, sounds, candy, and even water sprayed from 4-H’ers to cool off. Fire trucks from all around, local businesses, organizations, dancers, baton twirlers, bands, and politicians made their way from Glade Road down Pennsylvania Avenue, up Maple Avenue, and down Frederick Street to the Carnival Grounds. The 75th Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company Carnival started with a great night Monday evening. Families young and old enjoyed the Ride-All-Night for One Price special. Changes to the ride offerings brought mixed reactions from kids. Colton, a nine year old, loved the “hang gliders.” Jameson and Kate, siblings aged nine and twelve, noted with dismay that the bumper cars were not back. Its time to get your carnival on! Tonight is the opening night the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company’s 75th Carnival! It is starting with a bang, too! Abandoned Bank Property Gets a Tenant – Temporarily

The abandoned bank at Walkers Village Shopping Center had a new tenant moving in today, temporarily. The bank has been vacant for over a decade. For the next week or two, folks will be able to purchase fireworks from a tent erected on the property. A port-a-pot was placed against the bank building. The Eyesore on the Corner

Standing at the main intersection in Walkersville, Marsala’s Restaurant greets residents and visitors with a sight of blight that has upset many residents. The small restaurant at the corner of Main Street and Frederick Street never seemed very busy. For over a year now, the property serves no purpose outside of an eyesore for the community. A tree fell through the roof of the restaurant dealing a death knell to the struggling restaurant. The damage and repairs required all of the furniture to be moved out of the building.…
