Great First Night at the Walkersville Carnival
The 75th Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company Carnival started with a great night Monday evening. Families young and old enjoyed the Ride-All-Night for One Price special.
Changes to the ride offerings brought mixed reactions from kids. Colton, a nine year old, loved the “hang gliders.” Jameson and Kate, siblings aged nine and twelve, noted with dismay that the bumper cars were not back. As the group of kids enjoyed ice cream, they were very excited about the carnival and looking forward to tomorrow night’s parade.
The Walkersville FFA drew kids with their duck races, a calf, goats, and chickens. Loads of games and raffles supported local organizations. Politicians running for election this year were glad handing and passing out yard signs.
The Brush Fire Band entertained crowds in lawn chairs, those dining at picnic tables, and supporting our local fire and rescue companies.
Tonight, the All You Can Eat Banquet of Roast Turkey, Ham & Fried Chicken will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., a parade will make its way from Devilbiss Bridge Road on Glade Road to Pennsylvania Avenue, continue to Maple Avenue, and down Frederick Street to the Carnival Grounds. Rock N Roll Relics will entertain on the stage. A $300 Raffle Drawing will be drawn at the end of the evening.
