Members of the Kaleidoscope 4-H Club won the prize for best float. Their float featured a swimming pool and 4-H’ers squirting folks with water to cool off from the heat.

The Town of Walkersville turned out big for this year’s Parade.  Crowds lined the streets to enjoy the sites, sounds, candy, and even water sprayed from 4-H’ers to cool off.

This paddy wagon won best non-fire equipment. The rear of the wagon featured Bonny and Clyde mannequins under arrest.

Fire trucks from all around, local businesses, organizations, dancers, baton twirlers, bands, and politicians made their way from Glade Road down Pennsylvania Avenue, up Maple Avenue, and down Frederick Street to the Carnival Grounds.

Some favorites mentioned by folks at the carnival included the Walkersville Barber Shop, Kaleidoscope 4-H Club, the Paddy Wagon, and the free flowers from A’Bloom.

On the carnival grounds, Rock N Roll Relics brought people out of their seats to dance to the rock and roll music of yesteryear.  The music drew a large crowd. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm blew in long enough to thin out some of the crowd.

Tonight, the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company will serve fried shrimp, roast beef, and ham at the All You Can Eat buffet from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.  From 6:00 – 10:30 p.m., the carnival offers a Ride All Night for One Price special.  The Reagan Years will entertain the crowd on stage.  A $300 raffle drawing will be held to support the fire company.
