Frederick County residents who wish to appear as a candidate on the April 26, 2016 Presidential Primary Election ballot are reminded that the deadline to file is 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Biggs Ford Solar Farm Requests Continuance After Similar Project is Denied
The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals met Thursday evening to discuss three proposed solar energy farms, including the proposed solar arrays on former Walkersville Burgess Ralph Whitmore’s farm on Biggs Ford Road. Mr. Whitmore’s farm and a proposed solar farm at Ballenger Creek Pike and East Basford Road both lie on property in priority preservation areas. Town of Walkersville Opposes Solar Farm
On Wednesday evening, the Town of Walkersville voted to forward a letter opposing a solar farm on Biggs Ford Road. That letter from the Walkersville Planning Commission resulted from Tuesday evenings Planning Commission meeting. The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals requested input from Walkersville, because the property lies within Walkersville’s area of influence and a priority preservation area as defined by Frederick County.
