Suspects Charged in Waterside LetGo App Theft Series

On January 21st, 2019, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged an adult male and juvenile male in a string of thefts involving the popular buy-and-sell app, LetGo.

From August through October of 2018, Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies took 3 theft reports in which the victims were attempting to purchase cell phones using the LetGo app. The victims arranged to meet the seller in the Waterside community to make the transaction. When the transactions were made, the victims provided the suspects with money to purchase a phone. The suspects would then flee the scene prior to providing the victims with the phone.

Detectives were able to identify Tahjay Jovaughn Cruickshank, 20, of Frederick, and another juvenile male as involved in these thefts.

Detectives applied for criminal charges on Cruickshank for two counts of Theft, ranging from $100 to $1,500, and a criminal summons was issued.

Detectives filed a juvenile referral with the appropriate charges on the male juvenile suspect.
