Raskin Deserves To Go To Congress
I am requesting that readers support Senator Jamie Raskin’s bid for Congress in the 8th district of Maryland. He is an ethical and dynamic legislator, and deserves your backing.
He has fought to protect not just the citizens of Western Maryland, but all the citizens of Maryland should there be fracking. As the co-sponsor of SB 361, The Hydraulic Fracturing Liability Act, with Senator Bobby Zirkin, he testified in front of the House Committee, and pushed hard to get it passed in the General Assembly.
SB 361 provided a victim with protection by ensuring that if an incident from fracking should occur that resulted in injury, death, or loss to personal property, he or she had a number of rights that do not currently exist in the state of Maryland – and frackers would be directly liable for damages.
SB 361 passed out of the Senate with a 41-5 vote demonstrating overwhelming support. It was killed in the House by Kumar Barve, who is running against Raskin, because he would not allow a vote on it in his committee.
I vacation at Deep Creek Lake, and have for years. The importance of passing protective legislation is clear, and it was Jamie Raskin who went to bat for all of us. He deserves to go to Congress.
