Week 2 of the NFL season saw some exciting games. We saw seven teams go to 2-0 and 7 teams fall into the dreaded 0-2 hole.  Likewise some impact players went down due to injury that could potentially alter their seasons.

Week 2 started off in Baltimore with the Pittsburgh Steelers coming to take on their fierce rival, the Baltimore Ravens.  The game started off with so much promise but it quickly became evident that the Ravens were the superior team on that night.  At halftime the score was 10-3 Baltimore but in the second half the Ravens turned up the heat and cruised to a 26-6 victory.

Washington had a tough loss against the Texans in week 1 but they bounced back nicely in their first home game of the year against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Washington dominated on both sides of the ball; putting up 449 yards of total offense while holding the Jaguars to a mere 148 yards.  Washington’s victory was bittersweet however as they lost starting quarterbacks Robert Griffin III to an ankle injury. Washington destroyed the Jaguars 41-10, giving them a 1-1 record while dropping Jacksonville to 0-2.

The defending champion Seattle Seahawks did not show up in their first away game of the year which again reinforces the idea that the Seahawks is a completely different team on the road.  The Chargers Antonio Gates figured out the Seattle defense as he nabbed 3 touchdowns against the “legion of boom.”  San Diego was in control throughout as they went on to win by a score of 30-21.

On Sunday night the Chicago Bears faced off with the San Francisco 49ers, through the first three quarters it looked like the typical 49er win but it was not to be.  After being down 20-7 at the start of the 4th the Bears flipped the switch and scored 21 points in the final quarter while forcing three turnovers that completely turned the game around.  The Bears went on to win 28-20 in a game they had to win, the 49ers also fall to 1-1.

The Monday Night game between the Colts and the Eagles was one that went down to the wire.  The Colts led 20-6 in the 3rd quarter but poor play calling, bad defense and the referees all contributed to an Eagle comeback that saw them win the game 30-27 on a last second field goal as time expired.  Philadelphia running back Darren Sproles had a big game as he combined to have over 200 yards of total offense and scored a key touchdown.  The Eagles improved to 2-0 while the Colts slipped into the 0-2 hole which puts them in a tough position for the start of the season.
