Frederick County will soon have three new testing sites for COVID-19, including one along MD 26 near Walkersville. Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, Frederick County Health Officer, announced the new sites during a Public Information Briefing on Thursday, May 21, 2020.
CVS Health will be offering drive-thru testing at two locations. The CVS on the corner of Monocacy Boulevard and Liberty Road (MD 26) will be one of those locations. The CVS in New Market will also offer the testing.
Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing at CVS begins on Friday, May 22, 2020. Those wanting to be tested will drive-up to receive a swab collection kit with instructions while remaining in their cars. A CVS Pharmacy employee will supervise the collection of the sample to ensure proper swabbing.
CVS requires pre-registration at their website, CVS.com. Patients will be required to proof of identity and Maryland residency. Third-party labs will test the samples collected at CVS. Results will be expected within about two to four days.
The Wal-Mart on Guilford Drive will also offer drive-thru testing by appointment only. Testing at Wal-Mart will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. until 9 a.m. As a result of the holiday on Monday, Wal-Mart will offer testing on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 during the same hours. Results will be delivered within three to five days.
Dr. Brookmyer announced that testing will be provided with no out-of-pocket costs.
Testing will continue to be provided at Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick Health’s Drive-Thru at Urgent Care on West 7th Street, private medical practices, urgent care facilities, and long term care facilities.
