Home and Building Razed at Future Mill Run Development

The mild winter affords Dan Ryan Builders plenty of opportunities to bring new homes to fruition in Walkersville’s newest development, Mill Run. Two houses sprang up from the ground over the winter. Construction continues at a brisk pace along Ports Circle which winds back to the property that once featured a brick farm house.

The subdivision lies on a piece of ground once hidden off of West Pennsylvania Avenue. Eventually, twenty-one homes will be built. The development also features “forest resource” areas and a walk way to Walkersville Middle School.

The developer describes Mill Run as:

“. . . offering a variety of beautiful single family home styles located in Frederick County in the desirable Walkersville School District! Mill Run is a private enclave of only 21 home sites where every home backs up to open space or Forest Conservation areas – which means privacy for you and no homes backing up to each other! This highly sought-after community is tucked in a private, peaceful setting – yet minutes to parks, shopping, dining and commuter routes.”

On their web site,, homes offered range in size from 1,771 square feet to 3,022 square feet. Choices include three to four bedrooms, finished basements, and more. All homes offer two car garages and at least two and a half baths. Prices start at $374,990 and appear to exceed $500,000 with various options.

Mill Run is one of two new developments approved for this part of Walkersville, and one of three approved for Walkersville recently. Parkside will be on the farm just west of Mill Run. Another development continues ground preparation between Maryland 194 and Fountain Rock Road.
