Businessman and resident Mark Long today announced his run for election to Frederick County Council At Large to ensure that residents across Frederick County benefit from enhanced economic and educational opportunities.
Long, who has deep roots in northern Frederick County and has focused his career in both the social services and building construction fields, is a passionate advocate for affordable housing and ensuring prosperity reaches all corners of the region.
“We should make sure that our County continues to be an inviting and supportive place for businesses that provide good jobs with livable wages,” he says. “There are still too many people who struggle to make ends meet; we must work harder to provide the resources that enable everyone to have the opportunities to succeed and prosper.”
Investment in students, teachers and schools, diverse affordable housing, effective and comprehensive public transit and responsible residential development will be keystones of his platform.
“Just as we should invest in our children’s future by providing exceptional schools, we should also be mindful of the needs of our senior citizens as they age,” he said. “They have contributed much to our community and we should make sure that they can continue to live here, with dignity, while they enjoy the fruits of their labors.”
Long, who is president of Peace of Mind Home Inspections, is married to Jill Long; is a member of the Thurmont Lions Club, Frederick County Affordable Housing Council, and serves on the boards of Interfaith Housing Alliance, Kitsune and Envision Frederick County.
