Loy’s Station Covered Bridge Repairs Close Roads
The Frederick County Office of Transportation Engineering announced today that Old Frederick Road will be closed at the Loy’s Station Covered Bridge over Owens Creek starting on or about May 12, 2015. This will allow the contractor, Kinsley Construction, to complete rehabilitation work on the bridge.
Rehabilitation work to the covered bridge is scheduled to last ten working days, weather permitting. The work is to include a fire retardant being applied to the interior of the existing
structure.
A detour route will be in place during the road closure. The detour will utilize Creagerstown Road (MD Rt. 550), New Cut Road, Graceham Road, Rocky Ridge Road (MD Rt. 77) and Old Frederick Road. Department staff has notified emergency personnel and school officials.
