Kitchen Fire
At 10:46 a.m. on January 24, 2017, Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company, Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company, and surrounding companies were dispatched to George Street for a report of a house fire.
Chief 24 was in the area and arrived on the scene within minutes. Chief 24 reported heavy smoke from side Alpha and Charlie and spoke with the homeowner. A working kitchen fire was found and command established.
Ambulance 248 arrived on the scene and began to knock the bulk of the fire that was contained to the oven with a fire extinguisher and some extension to the wall.
Chief 11-1 arrived on the scene and took interior with Ambulance 248’s crew.
Rescue Squad 24 arrived on the scene within 2 minutes. RS24 crew provided ventilation to the front door.
Engine 111 arrived on the scene and assisted with ventilation. At that time interior reported fire knocked and command held Walkersville Volunteer Rescue and Fire Companies with cleanup. The rest of the units were placed in service. Command was terminated at 11:09 a.m.
