Human Remains Located on Gambrill Park Road Identified

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from several allied agencies, has positively identified the human remains recovered from a shallow grave in a wooded area off of Gambrill Park Road On June 30, 2017 as:

Victor Antonio Turcios-Valle
Hispanic Male age 37 of Silver Spring, MD

Mr. Turcios-Valle was last seen by family on April 2, 2017, and a missing person report was eventually filed with the Montgomery County Police. Positive identification was made through DNA examination and comparison.

Manner and cause of death has yet to be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Family notifications have been completed.

The investigation is ongoing.

On the evening of Thursday, June 29th , 2017, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of possible human remains found in a shallow grave off of Gambrill Park Road north of Coxey Brown Road. The discovery was made by a hiker and were located off of the roadway in a wooded area. Deputies arrived on the scene and confirmed the possibility of human remains in the shallow grave. The area was secured overnight. At 0700 hours on June 30th, crime scene units from Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Frederick City Police, along with detectives and a representative from the state medical examiner’s office, arrived on the scene and began processing the location for evidence.

Preliminarily, the remains were significantly decomposed indicating that they had been at the location for a period of time. Law enforcement personnel remained on the scene for the majority of the day to effect full recovery of any evidentiary material. All of the bones were sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner’s Office for examination and confirmation that the bones are of human origin by a staff anthropologist.
