Girls Lacrosse Team Wins 18-17 Thriller On Last Second Goal By Morgan Jernigan

by Jonathen Bowersox

On April 27th the Walkersville Lions Girls Lacrosse team took on the Tuscarora Titans. This was one of their closest game to date, but with a close game the Lions were able to get away with a win.

The score was 18 to 17 with the Lions on top with a last second goal from senior Morgan Jernigan. This was a very exciting game with both trying to come out on top. “I don’t think I’ve ever played in a more exciting game. Last year the coach of Tuscarora said he would be sure to beat us after losing our talented seniors. It was a tight game the whole time but we never stopped fighting. Our team really came together and I’m so proud of Morgan for scoring the winning goal.” said sophomore Maddie Holley.

Everyone played an amazing game with freshman Emily Goling scoring four goals and Sophomore Makenzie Pope scoring three goals. “This was one of the most exciting games of our season so far. We worked as a team till the end and got the win. I’m so proud of everyone and I am happy that I was able to perform and execute for my team when it counts most” said Pope.

“The game was not expected to be as close as it was. It seemed like either team was up by one throughout the whole thing. One team would score and be up one, and then the other team would score and so on. We played better as the game progressed but I am very proud of Kam for getting the ground ball as well as Morgan for scoring,” said sophomore Sarah Guyton

This proves that hard work and playing the best that you can till the end always pays off. This was a great game but they must focus on the game on Monday against Liberty High School.
