Girls Basketball Starts 3 and 0, with a Tough Game Against Linganore Tonight

The Walkersville Varsity girls basketball team are now 3-0 going into their next game tonight, December 13th, against the Linganore Lancers. The Lady Lions have started the season out strong, with three lopsided victories over Boonsboro, Winters Mill, and Thomas Johnson. Tonight should and will be a tough game for the lady Lions as the Linganore Lancers are a pretty strong team. With a 3-0 record the Lancers are trying to get revenge from the loss to the Lions last year.
Senior guard Nicole Boley was asked how does the team prepare for each game? She said “The coaches tell us what defense and offense they run. Then we simulate it in practice.” She also commented on how important is it to not overlook an opponent. “We treat every game the same, we play hard and don’t quit.” Although they are 3-0 the Lions are still looking for that statement win and are willing to go the extra mile to win the game. “All we have to do is play hard and execute the gameplan and we will have a chance to win,” said senior Maddi Hommey.
Linganore has lost four starters that were all seniors so this Lady Lancers team is fairly young. The Lions will hope to use their strong leadership to prevail over the Lancers. “Our seniors are very good example setters. They lead by action and they do a great job doing so,” said junior Rian Wright. Not only do the Lions have strong leadership they also have a strong bench. They have players who can play with the same amount of intensity the starters do. Players like sophomore Julie Wallace, junior Eve Bernardoni, and junior Sofia Bowers all play just as good as the starters.
The Lancers are really surprising people with three really good wins to start the season. The Lancers are known for their tough play and scrappy defense. They are not afraid to dive on the floor and get gritty. Their offense includes lots of back cuts and off ball movement. So the Lady Lions have to do a good job with not letting them cut their face through the lane for easy layups. Even though the Lancers are a tough team the Lady Lions should come out with the victory. So make it out to see your lady lions take on the Linganore Lancers.
