Fraud/Scam Calls Claiming to be Deputies
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls recently reporting a man with an accent called them from the FCSO information desk phone number (301-600-1046) claiming to be a deputy and demanding money or a warrant would be issued for their arrest. This is a scam and citizens are advised not to send money to this caller.
The Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to be on the alert for telemarketing scams and to report suspicious activity immediately to their local law enforcement agency. Additionally, never provide anyone with personal information such as bank accounts, pin numbers or Social Security numbers over the phone.
