FFA Sausage Grind a Huge Hit with WHS Students and Staff
WHS Lions Pride Original Story:
by Alexis Cavell
This morning students and teachers were lined up for delicious sausage sandwiches served by the FFA.
Pounds upon pounds of meat were stacked on tables getting ready to be sliced and ground. All members were participating and hard at work. Once the meat was prepared, it was transferred over to get cooked. There was an area where the eggs cooked and another table where the sausage was cooked.
A sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was sold for $5.00 and an egg and cheese sandwich for $4.00.
Brittany Ramsburg explained the goal of the sausage grind. “It is a fundraiser to go to Clayton Lenhart Memorial Scholarship. It’s a scholarship of the Walkersville High School FFA Alumni. We sponsor it, and this year we are doing 2000 pounds of meat. It is a great experience for kids to see. The FFA has been participating in this events for years. We start Thursday night into Friday. The kids sell the sausage sandwiches to fundraise.”
Students were raving over the sandwiches. Sophomore Seth Gatrell said with a laugh, “It is really good, I wish it had bacon.”
Junior Josh Green said, “Literally 10/10, it’s really good.”
Senior Dylan Ball said, “I love it!”
I helped myself to a sandwich. The sausage was thick and went perfect with the egg and cheese.
If you missed the sausage grind and didn’t get to try a sandwich, don’t forget to come out next year! The funds will help the FFA.
