Comic Con In Frederick a Great Place to Explore New Worlds
by Jack Thebau
Saturday, February 4th, Shoff Promotions held a comic convention at the Holiday Inn conference center located near the Frederick Scott Key Mall. While the event was small and intimate, it still brought fans from all over to share in their love of comics.
Comic Cons are events where venders and fans from all over come to enjoy, buy and sell comic books and other merchandise. They are held all over the country, the most well known being the San Diego comic con every summer.
“(Shoff Promotions) have been doing shows longer than I have been alive, so over 20 years, but only in the last few years have they started doing (them) in Frederick.” said Norrin, a retailer at the event. He and others sold comic books and related merchandise throughout the event.
“I heard about it literally this morning, I was on facebook and I saw people talking about it so I decided to come and see what it was all about.” said Chris, a man dressed as a character from Star Wars.
“I decided to come to the Comic Con and then go to the fire and ice festival downtown later; it’s awesome that there are two events in Frederick in one day.” said Jennifer, an enthusiastic comic book fan at the convention.
The 2017 Shoff Promotion comic convention was a successful event that many comic book fans of all ages attended. You should definitely check out the event next year.
