The crew of Rescue Squad 24 assisted Ambulance 249 with removing a patient through the drivers side.

Chief 11 arrived on the scene and established command.

Medic 1 arrived on the scene. After assessing a patient, Medic 1 requested Trooper 3 for transport.

Ambulance 247 arrived and began patient care.  A patient refused care from the crew.

Engine 111 provided the landing zone for Trooper 3. Trooper 3 transported a patient to Children’s Hospital.

Rescue Squad 24 remained on the scene to help Maryland State Police with traffic control.

Command was terminated and units went in service at 7:13 p.m.

Maryland State Police reported that Trooper 3 transported a six year old boy to the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The child’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police reported that footage from a dashboard camera in one of the cars involved showed the collision. The footage showed that the driver of the southbound car attempted to turn left on a green light from the turning lane onto Stauffer Road. The driver of the northbound car unlawfully crossed the intersection from a right-turn-only lane. The driver’s attempt to continue north on Maryland 194 from a right-turn only lane with her right turn signal on caused the collision with the turning vehicle.

The driver of the northbound vehicle suffered minor injuries to her arm. Maryland State Police charged the driver with failure to obey traffic lane markings.

The child injured in the collision was in the back seat of the southbound vehicle. The child’s father was the driver, but was not physically injured.
