Mr. Ray William King, 79, of Walkersville died Friday, December 28, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late, Norma Jean King, who predeceased him on March 28, 2010. Born April 25, 1939 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late William Earl King and Elsie Grace (Benchoff) King. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy, having served from 1958 – 1962. The Town of Walkersville will offer residents curbside Christmas Tree Pick-Up on the following dates: Monday, January 7, 2019, Monday, January 14, 2019, and Monday, January 21, 2019. Undecorated Christmas trees will be picked up from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Residents need to place their undecorated Christmas tree at the curb for pick up before 7:30 a.m. each of the mornings listed above.

Clifford W. “Mutt” Shelton, 98, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Mildred Shelton. Born on November 6, 1920, in Mount Pleasant, MD, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Clara (Getzendaner) Shelton. Mutt was drafted to the United States Army during WWII serving under General George S. Patton. Walkersville’s Town Hall will be closed on December 24th and December 25th! Woodsboro has posted no closing notices, and calls to Woodsboro’s Town Hall went unanswered. Frederick County Government administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24 – 25 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will return to regularly scheduled hours on Dec. 26.
