SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING/ASSAULT

Maryland State Police have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with a kidnapping and assault that occurred this afternoon outside Maximum Fitness 24, a fitness gym at the Discovery Shopping Center. The suspect is identified as Jason M. Bittner, 35, of Woodbine, Maryland. He is charged with kidnapping, second degree assault and reckless endangerment. Bittner has been taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing and to await an initial appearance before a court commissioner. Arrest Made in 1999 Rape Investigation

On Wednesday, December 26th, 2018, a warrant was issued for and served on Kevin Wade Gibbons, 42, of Charleston, South Carolina (formerly of Frederick), for the second-degree rape of a female victim in the early morning hours of January 1st, 1999, in Frederick. The case had been previously suspended, and was re-opened in August of 2018 by Detective Michael Toste. Gibbons was charged with second-degree rape and is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Frederick HIDTA Investigation Leads to Multiple Arrests

On Wednesday, December 19th, 2018, the Frederick High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) group consisting of members of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Frederick Police Department, Maryland State Police, Brunswick Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Frederick County States Attorney’s Office, served search warrants at two locations in Frederick and Washington County. During the fall of 2018, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office initiated a drug investigation in Frederick for heroin distribution after receiving anonymous tips.
