Boys B-Ball Starts Out Flat and Loses Close to Liberty

The boys fell short in the 2A west match up against Liberty last night.

They came out pretty flat in the beginning of the game and started to build up momentum throughout the rest of the game. “We started out very slow and had a little bit of energy. We played better in the fourth quarter but we did not play good enough to get the win,” Junior Zack Mathis said. Mathis had 11 points and 2 assists.

With it being a close game, foul shots really hurt Walkersville. “We need to start the game with more energy and intensity to avoid creating a deficit. Also we struggled shooting the ball at times, especially from the foul line,” junior Josh Polce said.

Kyle Daggett’s performance was outstanding last night. He had an amazing dunk and topped the night off with 20 points. Daggett is averaging over 16 points per game.”We came out slow but did not have enough intensity. If we would have came out in the first half just like the second we would have won the game. We beat them by nine points in the second half,’ Daggett said.

“We have really good team chemistry. We hangout a lot outside of basketball but as the season goes on and we get more court time together I think we are going to get a lot better,” Mathis said.

“I think it just takes time to build our team chemistry. Once that happens I think our passes and everything else will fall in place. We will continue to work hard and hopefully everything will come together at the end,” Daggett said.

Walkersville is now sitting at 5-6 right now. With last week’s win over Middletown, they have shown they can play with pretty much anybody. They are hoping to catch on fire at the end of the year.
