Abduction Scams
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has handled multiple reports of abduction scams in the past week. The victims received calls from an individual claiming to have the victim’s relative and that if money is not sent, they will kill them.
The Sheriff’s Office is advising citizens not to answer calls from unknown phone numbers and to never wire money to someone they don’t know. Citizens should be on alert for telemarketing scams and report suspicious activity immediately to their local law enforcement agency.
