Walkersville High School Bus Involved in Collision
Walkersville High School Principal Tracey Kibler reports that a bus from her school was involved in a motor vehicle collision on Liberty Road this afternoon.
The incident involved two other vehicles, resulting in a head on collision with the school bus. Ms. Kibler reports that the collision “occurred at minor speeds and our bus driver was at no fault in the incident.”
Upon her arrival to the scene, the students were in good spirits and in good health. “All of our students were free of injury and transferred to a substitute bus and transported home safely,” she stated in an e-mail to families.
She further wrote,
“I personally want to THANK our students for their patience and cooperation this afternoon. Each of them handled themselves maturely and complied with all direction given by the administration, responding personnel and FCPS Transportation Supervisors. I am EXTREMELY PROUD OF THEM!
In equal appreciation I want to thank the responding personnel and the FCPS Staff on the scene for immediately managing the situation and being promptly decisive to arrange alternative transportation for our students. Thank you to our driver for being so mindful of our students and placing their care and safety as his top priority.
