DavidBrinkleyDavid Brinkley, a life-long resident of Frederick County, has served District 4 in the Maryland State Senate since 2002.  He currently serves as the Minority Leader in the Senate.  He seeks his party’s nomination to continue serving District 4 as State Senator.

Senator Brinkley grew up in New Market.  He graduated from Linganore High School and the University of Maryland.  He still lives near New Market on a small farm.  His has two adult children.

Senator Brinkley began his public service as an EMT/Firefighter with the New Market District Volunteer Fire Company.  He recently was honored with a thirty years of service pin with that company.  The Career Firefighters of Frederick County, MD and the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association both endorse Senator Brinkley’s re-election.

In 1990, he won election to the Republican Central Committee of Frederick County.  He began two terms in the Maryland House of Delegates when voters elected him to represent District 4A in 1994.  He moved to the Maryland Senate after being elected in 2002 to represent District 4.

Professionally, Senator Brinkley began his career in the life insurance business.  Currently, he is a principal with Advisor’s Financial Group, a financial planning firm.

Senator Brinkley proudly shared a host of his accomplishments.  Since 2003, he had seventy-one bills pass the Maryland General Assembly.  As minority leader within the Maryland Senate, Brinkley led the fight against the O’Malley administration, Obamacare and the Maryland Health Exchange.  He worked diligently and won the Rain Tax Exemption for Frederick and Carroll Counties.  He voted against all tax increases including:

  • Rain Tax,
  • Gas Tax,
  • Income Tax Increases, and
  • Expansion of the Sales & Use Tax.

Brinkley called for independent investigations of the Maryland Health Exchange on three separate occasions.  He called for the Attorney General to investigate the implementation of the Maryland Health Exchange.   Recently, Senator Brinkley was appointed tot eh Joint Oversight Committee on the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.

He vows to fight for lower taxes, fight for small businesses and fight for Maryland farmers.  He has been endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business and the Maryland Farm Bureau PAC.

Senator Brinkley strongly supports the Second Amendment and has a strong Pro-Life voting record.  He is endorsed by Maryland Right to Life.

Senator Brinkley faces Delegate Michael Hough in the Republican Primary.
