Richard Winn Lane Dedicated Opening Thursday Morning

A group of approximately thirty people gathered Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the intersection of Stauffer Court and Richard Winn Lane in Walkersville to dedicate the road in memory of former Burgess Richard Winn.

Burgess Chad Weddle spoke about Richard Winn’s service to the town, Walkersville United Methodist Church, and the community as an educator, Town Commissioner, Burgess, and town employee. Commissioner Debbie Zimmerman remembered Mr. Winn as a good friend and her high school typing instructor. Town Commissioner Donald Schildt spoke of Mr. Winn’s service in World War II. Town Manager Gloria Long Rollins teared up remembering her friend and colleague.

Burgess Winn’s children cut the ribbon on the new road that connects Fountain Rock Road to Stauffer Court. Following that ribbon cutting, the elected officials present also cut the ribbon.

Afterward, Burgess Weddle confirmed to GladeValley.net that the concrete blocks at the intersecton of Richard Winn Lane and Fountain Rock Road will be removed Thursday morning.
