Winter Break in Walkersville

WHS Lions Pride Original Story:

Winter break is fast approaching and students, teachers, and administration cannot wait for some time away from school. This week, WHS Lions Pride is catching up with a few people to see what they enjoy doing over winter break.

“Well, I usually sleep a lot to be honest,” jokingly says senior Baylor Baxley “also on Christmas day we stay in our pjs all day because it’s just me, my parents, and my grandma”. Staying in pajamas all day is a popular thing that a lot of people seem to do. Teacher Mrs. Burnett agrees, she says “I like to pick one day over vacation to just stay home in my jammies, read a good book, and snuggle up with some hot chocolate”.

Senior Elias Baroudi says “I like to spend time with my family and appreciate all of things given to me that I usually take for granted. The holidays are a great time but it’s easy to forget that a lot of people are not as fortunate so I think it is important to be grateful for the intangibles”.

Senior Emma Churco says “I like to hang out with my family, with my friends, bake cookies, open presents, and give presents”. Emma lists all the things she usually does during the break but her favorite is to bake cookies. A lot of people like to bake goods and enjoy them or send them out to other friends and family.

“I go travelling with my family to places we have never been before,” says sophomore Ananiah Byrd-Landy, also known as Byrd “We have been to North Carolina, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts”. Spending time with family is another common theme seen during winter break but Byrd and his family like to do and see new things together.

Junior Leigha Pagliochini says “ I love watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate with my family,” she then says, “I watch Christmas Story every Christmas Eve”.

Everybody is counting down days until winter break. WHS Lions Pride can’t wait to hear all about it once we get back.
