Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company Seeks Donations

With the cancellation of the Carnival and its weekly BINGO events due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company has seen a sharp decline in revenue. The loss of revenue is “detrimental to our functionality,” the Fire Company explained.

Specifically, the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company needs to replace its 1994 pumper truck. “This 26-year-old pumper has served us well, but the years have taken their toll and a replacement is inevitable, if not imperative,” according to Fire Company President Chad Barrick and Chief Randy Williams.

A new pumper truck will cost the Fire Company approximately $600,000. If fundraisers like BINGO and the Carnival would have taken place, the pumper would be ordered and ready in 2021.

“We need our community’s support now more than ever,” the Fire Company’s leaders wrote.
