Stephen Haines Welty
Stephen Haines Welty, 47, of Walkersville passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Steve is the husband of Kelley Phagan Welty and the father of Ethan and Owen.
Steve grew up in Flossmoor, Illinois, and is a 1992 graduate of The College of William and Mary where he met Kelley.
Steve went on to earn his masters degree in special education from Western Maryland College, now called McDaniel. His current position was Secondary Special Education Coordinator, but he had also worked as an assistant principal in many schools and, initially, as a special education teacher at Heather Ridge School.
Steve was known for his generous heart, and it gives us some solace to know that even in death, he continues to live on as an organ donor.
He is survived by his wife, sons, mother Sally Haines Welty of San Diego, sister Dana Adams of Joliet, IL, and her husband Kent, and her children Ryne, Grady, and Finley. He is also survived by in-laws Fred and Laurae Phagan of Mt. Airy, sister-in-laws Laura Phagan of Frederick, Kim Alu of Sandy Springs, GA, her children Reilly and Thatcher, and brother-in law Roland Kerns of Palm Beach, FL.
