Madeline Emily Waddell, age 86, of Johnsville, died Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Glade Valley Center, Walkersville, following an extended illness. Born January 1, 1931 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late George and Olive Norwood Snyder. She was the wife of James S. Waddell who died in 2001.

Madeline was a member of the Liberty-Central United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at Farmers Supply Co. of Walkersville which became Cargill. She enjoyed reading.

Surviving are sisters, Charlotte Waddell and husband Leonard of Johnsville and Beverly Gorsuch and husband Frank of Union Bridge; numerous nieces and nephews, including Keith Gorsuch and wife Lisa and Kevin Gorsuch. She will also be remembered by friends and special care givers, Lu Ann Morris and Christine Freeman. The family also expresses thanks to the nurses at Glade Valley Rehab for the good care given to Madeline.

There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Prospect Cemetery, near Mt. Airy, with her pastor, Rev. Jerry Cline, officiating.
