James F. Grove
Mr. James F. “Jim” Grove, Sr., 78, of Walkersville, Maryland passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. His beloved wife, June L. Grove, died July 20, 2014. They were married 48 years.
Born on May 31, 1939, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Chester L. and Emma (Miller) Grove.
Jim was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown.
Jim and his late wife, owned and worked in the family businesses at Grove’s TV Sales and Service and Emma’s Kitchen in Walkersville.
He was past president and active member of the Purple Martin Conservation Association. Jim was an avid shooter and member of Camp Kanawha, He was a lifelong hunter and enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by one son, James F. Grove, Jr. of Lafayette, IN; two grandchildren, Megan E. Grove and James F. Grove, III both of Indiana; sister, Katherine “Kitty” Bradshaw; and brother, Larry Grove and wife, Deborah; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester L. “Tommy” Grove, Jr.; and a sister, Delores F. “Fran” Lochner.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 S. Church Street in Middletown. Rev. Mark Wakefield will officiate. Interment will be held at Christ Reformed Church Cemetery in Middletown.
