Executive Jan Gardner Announces Legislation to Streamline Construction of Accessory Dwelling Units

County Executive Jan Gardner announced proposed legislation to encourage the construction of accessory dwelling units in Frederick County. Co-sponsored by County Council President Bud Otis and Council Member Jessica Fitzwater, the proposal would streamline regulations to make it easier to build what used to be called in-law suites, which are small living spaces within or attached to a home, or stand alone “tiny houses.” The legislation only addresses units that are accessories to existing single-family homes. At approximately 7:20 a.m. this morning, a collision between a school bus and another vehicle occurred at the intersection of the Walkersville High and Elementary Schools’ entrance and Woodsboro Pike. Walkersville Election Supervisors Sought

The Town of Walkersville is currently still accepting Letters of Interest for the position of Election Supervisor and alternates.  Alternates are available on election day, September 10, 2018, to assist five Election Supervisors, possibly checking in voters, handing out ballots, monitoring ballot boxes and election booths, as needed. Voting has been extended this year and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., so it will be a long day.
