Suspects Charged in Waterside LetGo App Theft Series

On January 21st, 2019, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged an adult male and juvenile male in a string of thefts involving the popular buy-and-sell app, LetGo. From August through October of 2018, Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies took 3 theft reports in which the victims were attempting to purchase cell phones using the LetGo app. The victims arranged to meet the seller in the Waterside community to make the transaction. James Monroe Stup, a lifelong dairy farmer, died on January 25, 2019 at Homewood at Crumland. Jim was born on January 1, 1929 at the Staley family home on Bloomfield Road. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends. He was the oldest child of Monroe W. and Margaret Staley Stup. He married Louise Huffer of Middletown on August 19, 1956, with whom he celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary in 2016. Jim graduated from Frederick High School in 1947. Last week, Rutter’s opened its doors and fuel pumps becoming the third such facility built or expanded in so many years. Next month, Frederick County will hear plans for a fourth such business along the same two mile stretch of Woodsboro Pike through Walkersville. An applicant submitted plans to build a 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station directly across the street from Sheetz.
