Free Bingo Night and Book Swap Supporting Walkersville Middle School PTSA

The Walkersville Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association will host its second annual Free Bingo Night and Book Swap on Friday, February 24, 2017. The event will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Walkersville Middle School Cafeteria, but doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to support the PTSA, but any students and siblings must be accompanied by an adult. Sheetz Expansion Moving Quickly – Car Wash Delivered

It’s hard to miss all of the activity taking place at the Sheetz along Maryland 194 in Walkersville these days. In July of last year, the Walkersville Planning Commission approved plans for a new and larger store with more amenities on the lot. Over the winter, building of the new store has been fast and furious. Today, the car wash delivered on the backs of two trucks. Dr. and Mrs. George Smith Establish Charitable Fund

The Dr. George and Carolyn Smith Fund has been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County, and becomes one of more than 679 funds under management. Always supportive and generous to Frederick County and its citizens, Dr. and Mrs. Smith created the fund to provide scholarships to those pursuing careers in a variety of health care fields. Grants will support Friends of Baker Park, an organization dedicated to the care and wellbeing of Frederick City’s Baker Park, as well as grants to organizations that provide performing and visual arts.…

Mitzi Smith Joins Glade Valley Community Services Board of Directors

Mitzi Smith is the newest member of the 2017 Board of Directors. Mitzi and her husband, Gary, have lived in Woodsboro for over 40 years. She is a retired teacher, having taught most of her career in Washington and Frederick counties and most recently at Walkersville High School. Mitzi has always been involved as a volunteer in the community: volunteering in her church, at the GVCS Community Thrift Shop, the Holiday Toy Shoppe, Community Partners, and delivering donated food to the Food Bank.
