Softball Paint Night Fund Raiser a Huge Success

by Christina Huffer

The Walkersville High School softball program hosted a paint night fundraiser that had a phenomenal turnout on Thursday February 16th.The participants all created the same piece, but each one put a little twist on theirs to make it their own. The money raised went to paying for an instructor that walks the participants through every step, Tammy Brown, and the other half is going to the softball program for new uniforms and gear.

The instructor actually was an art teacher before starting her own business; with an instructor that had an art teaching background it helped a lot of people with their questions and helping with certain techniques that not just any person would know or could even figure out themselves.

“I have been running my own business for two and half years. I mostly do fundraisers and I also do girls night out, bachelorette parties and birthday parties; kids birthday parties, or an excuse just to get together with friends. The kids love it; they love painting. The kids are the most fun; they love being creative,” said Brown.

With about 40 people the assistance and communication between everyone was very successful. If someone had a question then Brown was there to help.

“It was really fun, but hard at the same time. I’m not very artistic but Tammy really helped. The softball paint night was a really good idea, and I didn’t think a lot of people would actually come, but we had a bigger turnout than I thought. The fundraiser is important, so we can get new uniforms, new softballs, and new gear,” said sophomore, varsity softball player Katherine Donaghue.

Some of the participants were happy with their finished paintings, and some were just happy that they had the experience.

“I think the players had a great time. A lot of them had a chance to to step out of their comfort zone and still were successful. I’d definitely consider doing another paint night in the future. I would like to have one off campus to see if we can get even more people to attend. I’d like more people to show because it makes even more money for the team. Although any larger, and people may not get the assistance they need. We surpassed our goal for tonight. In my book it was successful. I enjoyed the night even though I didn’t get to paint,” said softball head coach Erinne Warrenfeltz.

Everyone that was there had a fantastic time; they got to have fun and raise money for their team.
