Jerimiah Sweet Is Much Traveled In His Life, But Has Found a Home at Walkersville

Jerimiah Sweet is a junior at Walkersville High School. He is best known as “Sweet” in school. Sweet has to move every four to five years because of his mother being in the military. “Being in a military family comes with a lot of challenges. I don’t get to know people as well as I would like to. It was hard when my mom first joined the military but it’s been 14 years now and I’m used to it.”

Sweet was born in New Mexico and has lived in Nevada, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Alaska, and Maryland. When he was young, his dad divorced his mother and now Sweet lives with his mom and stepdad. When he was ten years old his stepdad and his mother got married before they moved to Alaska. Sweet’s mother is now pregnant and due in January. “I’m very excited about my new sibling, and I’m happy for my mom and her husband.”

Sweet got most of his dad’s genes being 6’2 with the rest of his family being only 5’9. Sweet decided to play basketball when he was five years old. He also started to play baseball when he was five, but stopped playing his sophomore year. During his freshman year he decided to play football because his class of 2018 was well known for being good at football. He now starts at defensive tackle on the varsity football team that is bound to make a run for the state championship.

Sweet keeps up with his academics just as well as his athletics. He has a unweighted GPA of 3.5 and received straight A’s this term. “I plan to go to the University of Anchorage Alaska and major in marine biology. If not, I plan on attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison,” Sweet said.

Sweet is a good example of a student athlete and has a bright future ahead of him.
